Grooming A Schnauzer
All Schnauzers are wonderful dogs that look beautiful when looked after properly. The Schnauzer breed could lose much of its beautiful charm if it is not looked after correctly and groomed on a regular basis. You can of course, pay someone else to groom your Schnauzer, but you will get so much pride and satisfaction from grooming your Schnauzer yourself.
The Schnauzers have a wiry coat and it is fairly short. A good side to the Schnauzer is that they shed virtually no fur whatsoever. This makes them great dogs for people who suffer from pet allergies. They need to be groomed and properly clipped frequently to ensure that the coat stays in a great condition.
Getting a short wire brush is essential for grooming the Schnauzer dogs. The fur can become tangled and very matted if it is not brushed, clipped and trimmed often enough. The fur should be brushed every day without fail to make sure that the fur stays as beautiful as it should do. The Schnauzer’s whiskers should also be brushed and cleaned after every single meal.
The first thing you need when grooming a Schnauzer is a good pair of dog clippers. These dog clippers can either be ones that have different sized blades on them or ones that can be adjusted to suit where you want to use them. You will need a great quality dog shampoo, which can actually be bought anywhere. A great pair of scissors and if you can get hold of the, a pair of thinning shears for the dogs fur.
Not only do you need to concentrate on the dog’s fur, you also need to take care of the dog’s teeth, eyes, ears and paws/claws. For doing this, you will need other pieces of equipment such as brushes, toothbrushes and other such pieces of equipment. You can get special types of toothbrushes that can actually slip over your finger to make it easier for you and the dog.
Grooming a Schnauzer, no matter which type, does not have to be difficult or time consuming. Grooming your schnauzer also allows you to spend more quality time with your dog. It gives you a great chance to bond together and have a great time. Your dog may protest to being groomed at first, but eventually, you can both spend this time having a wonderful time together!
You must always start grooming your dog from a very early age. This gives you both chances to get used to the routine properly. Eventually, your schnauzer will love being groomed if you keep at it and show the dog how great it can be. Grooming is a great way to show your dogs real potential and create a wonderful and lasting bond between you.
