Schnauzer Training

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Schnauzer dogs have to be well trained and well cared for. If they are well trained, they will be loyal, happy, obedient and great dogs to have in the family. To be well trained, good socialization is the key to getting them used to other people and other dogs. All Schnauzer dogs are wonderfully playful, happy, feisty, confident, intelligent and protective dogs. As they are protective, it can cause them to get aggressive around other people they are unsure of.

If you get your Schnauzer socialized early on you are ahead of the battle. They have to be well socialized to get along with other types of dogs. Otherwise, you may have a lot on your hands at a later date.

You should get your Schnauzer house trained as soon as possible and this should be your first priority. Keep to a regular schedule and show them where and when they should go. Do not get angry with them if they make mistakes – they will make a mistake eventually! Praise them when they do get it right and give them plenty of cuddles and treats! Click to continue »

Grooming A Schnauzer

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

All Schnauzers are wonderful dogs that look beautiful when looked after properly. The Schnauzer breed could lose much of its beautiful charm if it is not looked after correctly and groomed on a regular basis. You can of course, pay someone else to groom your Schnauzer, but you will get so much pride and satisfaction from grooming your Schnauzer yourself.

The Schnauzers have a wiry coat and it is fairly short. A good side to the Schnauzer is that they shed virtually no fur whatsoever. This makes them great dogs for people who suffer from pet allergies. They need to be groomed and properly clipped frequently to ensure that the coat stays in a great condition.

Getting a short wire brush is essential for grooming the Schnauzer dogs. The fur can become tangled and very matted if it is not brushed, clipped and trimmed often enough. The fur should be brushed every day without fail to make sure that the fur stays as beautiful as it should do. The Schnauzer’s whiskers should also be brushed and cleaned after every single meal.

Schnauzer Crate Tips

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Before picking up your new schnauzer puppy from the breeder, it may be a good idea to pick up most of your pet supplies. A couple of toys, a small rawhide bone, an old blanket, and a quality crate will help your new schnauzer feel right at home.

Dog crates provide a place for your dog to sleep as well as a carrier for your pet while traveling. They can be made from plastic or metal. You can purchase a dog crate from a local pet store or a number of online stores. Shops such as PetCarriers.com offer a wide selection of dog crates.
